About the ministry

The planting and founding of Faith Rebuilders’ Christian Mission started from the heart of God. God spoke to His Servant- Brother Joel Ayodele Adelani on the 23rd March, 1989 after several months of praying from the book of Psalm 32:8 that “I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go and I shall guide thee with my eyes”. God brought Brother J. A. Adelani to Abeokuta in January 1990 when God spoke directly to him with the confirmation of other men of God like Prophet Salawu and Prophet Kola Ayanfe who were his friends and prayer partners and were specific about where God wants him to go to- Abeokuta, South West Nigeria. But what amazed him concerning the call was why God did not tell him to go to Ibadan where he knows a lot of people, or to start his ministry in Lagos where he was living at that time, but to come to Abeokuta where he did not know anybody and have visited only once for a programme before this time.

Nevertheless, he obeyed the instruction given by the Lord with reference to Exodus 25:40 as he left his parent Church (New Life for All Nations Gospel Church) under the leading of God and came to Abeokuta with his wife and their little daughter, Blessing on the 27th January, 1990. He left with no quarrel or conflict because the people loved him dearly. Pastor Adelani made up his mind that this Ministry he is founding at Abeokuta will play its part in the Great Commission and that God will use it to reach the remaining nations for Christ in these last days. His aim was to plant a New Testament Church that will be a sanctuary for God in the world that hates Him and from which worship in spirit and truth would ascend like a cloud of incense to delight God’s heart. A place for mutual edification where each member will be able to minister one to another and where all will share their joy and sorrow together (Eph. 4:16). It will be an assembly of committed saint ready to partake in world evangelization with vision for missions and disciple making.

The primary area in reaching people in Africa for Christ is to work in the rural and remote areas because over seventy percent population in Africa lives in the grassroots. As the leader of the Ministry, he has labored in the rural areas and discovered that rural dwellers lack the advantages of many things like water, health care and most importantly the Gospel. This is why he is trying to have a standing ministry like Jerusalem and the Antioch Church before moving to the rural areas because he believes to be much for God; one must be much with God. He was also envisioned to make disciples for Christ through discipleship training and to send out Missionaries into the field, supporting and adopting missionaries in mission fields. Since the call is certain and true, he came to the town and the church started in the sitting room of a twin brothers- Taiwo and Kehinde Akintobi at No. 7, Odedairo Street, Nawair-Ud-deen Area, Oke-Ijenu, Abeokuta. The Akintobis’ supported Pastor Adelani with all they have until God started bringing in faithful brethren into the Church.

They faced a lot of problems and difficulties, but they believed that challenges are fore-runners to miracle and breakthrough. The church grew and moved to a hall at 7up Depot Complex, Idi-Aba on Sunday, 8th July, 1990 when the sitting can no longer accommodate them. The foundation stone of Faith Rebuilders’ Christian Mission Headquater at 11, Badru Street, off Moshood Abiola Way, Olorunsogo, Abeokuta was laid on Saturday, 7th May, 1994 and was dedicated on Saturday, 1st December, 2001. What started as Home Cell Fellowship and later called Olorunsogo Christian Fellowship was from 16th August, 1998 changed to Faith Rebuilders’ Christian Mission.
